George Oakman died from wounds on 15th September, 1914, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 1st Cornwall Light Infantry battalion was part of 14 Brigade, 5th Division that had arrived in France at the beginning of the war and had been involved in the fighting since then.
